ITDML 6th year Program

 

In July 2014 I started my ITDML 6th year certificate program at the University of New Haven, I will complete the program in August 2015. This program has had significance Influence on my teaching career as I am learning about new forms and uses for technology. As a PE and Health teacher I struggle with how to creatively bring thse devices and technology applications into the classroom in appropriate ways. This program has been challenging yet rewarding. I am learning a whole new world of technology vocabulary and I am benefitting and enjoying the challnege of learning something new. I now use Prezi, Google Docs, Google Drive, Quizlet, Poplet and YouTube more freqently. 

 

The focus of my teaching philosophy has changed since beginning the ITDML program. I have included more technology into the classroom to help mimic my philosophy for the PE and health classroom by developing basic skills and applying them to modified, age appropriate settings where the students will be successful. As the students mature the skills and uses of technology should become more complex and we should provide the students with the chance to learn about teamwork, fair play, and the thrills of success. As I continue my career in education I will strive to incorporate new technologies and skills into the curriculum when possible.
